It's ABOMINABLE Time!

This week's topic at Timberlinedraw.blogspot.com was Sasquatch/Yeti/Bigfoot/Abominable Snowman

Now I'm not a huge fan of Adventure Time, but I do enjoy it. Part of me just can't get behind some of the story elements, but I respect it stylistically and see where it fits in the grand scheme of American animation. So I figured that I'd try my hand at emulating the style. The catch for me was then attempting to take a classic character, The Abominable Snowman from the Christmas Classic claymation Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and draw him as he'd appear in Adventure Time. I feel like it was successful and I hope to take this piece to completion.

Strange Occupation

Bond, James Bond was the topic over at www.timberlinedraw.blogspot.com .  Oddly enough, no one else picked this guy.  I struggled with the background.  I wanted to impress upon the fact that this guy is larger than life and has this intensity about him.

Timberline Draw Blog topic - Lone Wolf & Cub. I took a different approach--instead opting to go with the Lone Wolf 2100 version of the storyline. A mix of sci-fi and samurai storytelling, this version of Lone Wolf features a female "cub" named Daisy and her protector Itto who holds a fascinating secret. Francisco Ruiz Velasco did a fantastic job of bringing this futuristic, but horribly ruined world to life. If you haven't read this series, I'd look it up in TPB format and highly recommend it.

This is the first of what I hope to be a full on project that will eventually culminate into an arcade game.  

Pencils were taken into Photoshop, converted to cyan for inking.  I printed off that cyan copy, inked it, and then re-scanned the piece.  Once scanned, I clean up any stray pencil lines and brought it into Illustrator and further cleaned up using the Live Trace feature.  I did this to give a better, more organic feel to the inks as my inking tends to lose some of the organic-ness of the pencil drawing.  Then it was brought back into Photoshop for a traditional coloring.  While the subject matter usually has a cel-shaded coloring applied to it, I chose to go with a more "traditional" coloring style as it is the desired look for the overall project.
